Over the last several days, people have been very complimentary about the posts I have written. I am honored, and I appreciate that wholeheartedly.
In particular, some have described my writing as inspirational and meaningful, noting the perspective I bring to navigating my attitude and overall outlook. Those are kind words, once again, but I tend to reflect on them a bit differently.
Because when I hear the word “inspirational,” I do not immediately think of praise, I think of responsibility.
The Word: Inspirational
One day, I looked up the word “inspirational.” According to Merriam-Webster, it means:
Something that makes someone want to do something or that gives someone an idea about what to do or create.
A person, place, or experience that motivates someone to act or create.
A good idea.
Simple definitions, but powerful when you really think about them.
Are You Inspirational?
Terrific, I said, but let me ask you the same question: are you inspirational?
Do you have the determination, the courage, and the wherewithal to pursue your goals and dreams?
And more importantly, do your actions consistently reflect that intention?
Like a mirror, I am asking you the same questions I face every single day.
Will you have the resilience and fortitude to move forward, even when there are a few “chinks in the armor”?
Will you keep showing up when things are unclear, uncomfortable, or imperfect?
To be inspired, in my view, is not about a single moment. It is about consistency. It is about continuing to stretch a little further, even on the days when you would rather stay where you are.
It is about bringing energy, intention, and effort into each day, regardless of the circumstances.
Being inspirational is not reserved for a select few. It belongs to anyone willing to rise above the ordinary and push toward something greater, with strength, resilience, and purpose.
And sometimes, it starts with something very simple: deciding not to settle.
Ready for the challenge?
What does being “inspirational” look like in your daily life—and how are you reflecting that back into the world?
