From Cheerios To Waffles: Embracing Small Risks For Big Wins

Singularity presents opportunity in peculiar circumstances. Consider this a metaphor—served with breakfast.

Ninety-nine point nine percent of my mornings are identical. Comfort food, comfort routine, and a reassuring sense that the world is still spinning in the proper direction.

In precise order: a Chiquita banana, eight ounces of orange juice, and one daring decision—Cheerios or Special K. About one cup. (Wild living, I know.)

Boring?

Perhaps.

Tasty?

Indisputably.

Wild Dare

Every so often, however, I rebel. I go completely off-script and choose indulgence. On this particular morning, it was pecan waffles.

That choice required effort—gathering ingredients, retrieving the waffle maker from its hiding place, waiting patiently as it hissed and steamed, and then cleaning up the aftermath.

The reward? Rich, flavorful, and absolutely worth it. The experience itself was energizing.

Break Through The Barriers

Now that you are hungry, here is the takeaway.

That tiny deviation—the adventurous 0.1 percent—awakens creativity, sharpens thinking, and nudges us beyond our self-imposed limits. It is not recklessness. It is intentional curiosity.

We all have routines that keep us comfortable. And while comfort has its place, growth often waits just beyond it.

Sometimes, progress begins with something as simple as choosing waffles.

What familiar habit could you gently disrupt this week to see what new opportunity appears?
